I have heard a number of visitors — not the long-term
foreign semi-residents, nor yet the people coming to this island for the first or
second time, but the ones who have been coming for their holiday to this same
place year after year — complaining; saying such things as ‘We’re fed up with
Greece putting its hands in our pockets.’
My question for these people is ‘Don’t you think that, over
the years, and taking everything into account, Greece has given you more than
you’ve given Greece?’
