According to a recent article in the ‘London Review of
Books’ — (so it must be true) — about 10% of the gases causing global warming
are farted by cows. Considering that there must be many more goats, sheep, and
other farting herbivores than cows on the planet, we can surely add another 10% for them. Should
we turn our attention away from cars a little, and consider that perhaps we
should, to save the planet, stop eating herbivorous animals and their products?
Or might we fit catalytic converters up their — um —
exhausts?
